When you connect a bank account to most budgeting apps, you're granting a third party like Plaid a persistent, live connection to your accounts. They can see balances and transactions continuously, not just once. That connection stays open until you explicitly revoke it.

Bank-connected apps maintain a persistent link to your accounts. With CSV import, you download a statement from your bank, upload it once, and the connection ends there. Your bank never knows we exist, and you control what you share and when.

We collect your email address, your budget categories and savings goal names, and encrypted transaction data. Descriptions, merchant names, and amounts are encrypted before storage.

You can reset your password and keep your transaction history. Liberty Budget uses wrapped encryption keys so your data key can be securely re-wrapped to your new password during reset.
